UNDER 18 COMPETITION HEATS UP

By LEO MULLALY

The Under 18 Division 1 competition was back in action over the weekend, with the top four sides continuing their dominance.

Werribee Districts outperformed an inaccurate Altona side by 23-points at Simonds Oval, with the visitors solidifying top spot in the process.

James Allan and Phillip Galea were outstanding contributors for the Districts, while key forward Jack Bonnett and small forward Luke Di Mauro slotted two apiece.

For the Vikings, William Naismith and Billy Minett were shining lights.

Caroline Springs 12.8. (80) defeated Spotswood 6.6. (42), as Nicholas Cugliari booted three goals for the victors.

Nathan Goncalves and Mitchell Glazbrook were superb for the Lakers, while Lachlan Dawson and Charlie Norris were among the best for the Woodsmen.

At Yarraville Oval, the Warriors managed a comfortable 42-point victory over the Eagles.

Bailey Moffatt continued his goal-kicking prowess for the Warriors, adding another three majors to his 2021 tally.

Callum Buckingham and Lukmain Haddara were standouts for Hoppers Crossing, while Oscar Siddell and Joe Perry were strong contributors for Yarraville.

Next week, Werribee Districts face Point Cook in what is set to be an entertaining encounter.

The Vikings will host the Lakers and Yarraville will search for that elusive win against Spotswood.

Hoppers Crossing have the bye.
