Following WRFL approval of your registration you will be issued with a trainer’s card valid for the 2021 season, which you will need to carry on you at all times on a Game day.

On the Registration form Trainers can opt for either a Mobile Version or a Hard copy trainers’ card.

If you choose hard copy, you will receive an email once it has been printed and available to be picked up from the WRFL Office. In the event a hard copy replacement card is required a $5.00 fee per card will be applied.

Please allow at least 24-48 hours for the registration to be processed and both the digital & hard copy versions to be finalised.

Minimum WRFL Trainer requirements from 2021

In 2018 the WRFL announced changes to the minimum requirements for being a registered and performing trainer effective from season 2021:

As of this year all trainers will require the following:

  1. Level 2 First Aid Certificate – HLTAID011 (valid for 3 years)
  2. Current CPR Certificate (renewed annually)
  3. ERC Certificate – Emergency Response Coordinator (valid for 3 years)
  4. Working with Children’s Check card – Required for all junior and senior trainers (volunteer card accepted)
  5. COVID-19 Infection Control Training Certificate (15 minute online course) Please click here for access to course

Without these the WRFL will be unable to register you as a Trainer.

Why the changes?

This is an AFL initiative which the WRFL and other community leagues are obligated to follow. The changes being implemented are designed to provide trainers with the knowledge to be both confident and competent in ensuring all players safety, administering the best care in any given situation.

What does the ERC course entail?

Emergency Response Coordinator (ERC) courses are run by First Aid Management & Training Centre in accordance with AFL guidelines.

The three-hour course covers important topics such as emergency planning, emergency response priorities, concussion management, on-field communication and transporting injured participants.

A current First Aid certificate must be provided during enrolment.

For more information on course dates & locations please contact Jessie Chester at (j.chester@wrfl.asn.au)
