By SARAH RAMANTANIS

The Wyndham Suns overpowered top team Glen Orden doubling their final score, meaning top spot is up for grabs in Division 3.

John Tomelty kicked four goals in the victory, while Michael Ryan was named best on ground.

The race for top spot is heating up with three rounds remaining.

The Hawks are in first place, two points ahead of Albanvale. In third spot is Sunshine Heights, who are a further two points behind.

The Dragons recovered from last week’s poor performance against Wyndham Suns, defeating Albanvale by nine-points at Robert Bruce Reserve.

The Cobras will be looking to redeem themselves as they play Glen Orden in a top-of-the-table clash next week, while Sunshine Heights take on North Sunshine.

Coming off a bye round, Laverton defeated North Sunshine 12.15 (147) to 12.8 (80) at Dempster Park.

Although neither teams scored during the second and third quarter, star performances from Hayden Duczek and Patrick Lee led the Pies to victory with a combined score of 10 goals.

Jeremy Hibbert kicked six majors, ably supported by Anthony Ryan’s three goals for the Roadrunners.

The Titans were able to fight back after their eight-point loss against Glen Orden last week, as they conquered Braybrook by 74-points.

The Titans triumphed throughout, leading by 31-points at the end of the first quarter.
