The Newport Football Club have revealed Ziggy Kaddour’s replacement, announcing Josh Russo has been appointed coach of the senior group for the Division 2 2023 season.

Russo has been an assistant coach alongside Kaddour for the past three seasons and despite not putting his hand-up for the role initially, he has since committed to the club and will lead the senior side next year.

“I am very excited and honoured to be the new Senior coach of the Newport Football Club,” he said.

“Whilst I initially wasn’t intending on coaching in 2023, sometimes things happen for a reason and in the end everything aligned.

“I’m now really looking forward to the challenge of helping our club rise the Division 2 ladder. I’m particularly looking forward to working with the under 18’s boys to help them transition into senior footballers.

“Can’t wait to get stuck into pre-season”.

Newport finished the season in fifth spot, winning nine games.
