POINT COOK BLUE FINISHING STRONGLY

Reigning premiers Point Cook Blue have moved into second on the ladder after defeating Sunshine 1 by 24 goals in Round 8 of the Victoria University Division 1 Netball competition.

Point Cook powered to a 29 to 14 lead at half-time and never looked back.

It was a great defensive performance by the Bulldogs, who kept the Kangaroos to seven goals or less in each of the four quarters.

Joanne Crozier and Jane Goodier were among the best players on court.

Point Cook Blue have now won six games for the season and sit in second spot, behind Point Cook Centrals 1, who have yet to lose a game.

The Sharks scored a 63-22 victory over North Footscray.

Point Cook Centrals 1 pride themselves on being the most attacking team in the competition and it showed on Friday night. They scored 15 goals, 17 goals, 17 goals and 14 goals in each of the quarters.

Braybrook won its second game of 2019, defeating Point Cook Centrals 2 by 14 goals.

Braybrook opened-up a 11-goal lead at half-time, thanks to the work of Bree Dean and Jessica Townsend in the goal ring.

Defenders Melanie Kelly and Anne Busscher also played well.

Spotswood Gold kept its finals chances well and truly alive after defeating Point Cook Red by 10 goals.

Spotswood Gold currently sit in fifth position on the ladder, one game behind Sunshine 1 in fourth.

In Division 2, Spotswood Green defeated Point Cook White 44-22.

It was an all-round performance from the top team, with Laura Trotter, Ashleigh Withers and Monique Grech all playing well.

Monica Djuric was the star for Braybrook Hawkins in their win over Glen Orden Brown.

Djuric scored 12 goals in the goal shooter position before being moved to goalkeeper in the final quarter.

The final score was 42 to 16.

Finally, Sunshine 2 defeated Glen Orden Gold 33-28.

Scores were level at three-quarter time, but it was Sunshine 2 who came out on top, scoring 10 goals to five in the final term to win the game.
