O’HALLORAN BECOMES A GIANT

St Bernard’s young gun Xavier O’Halloran was selected by the GWS Giants with Pick 22 in Thursday night’s Round 1 NAB AFL Draft.

O’Halloran was the captain of the Victorian Metro team at the Under 18 Championships and captained the Western Jets in 2018. He played his junior footy with St Bernard’s in the Western Region Football League.

GWS National Recruiting Manager Adrian Caruso said the Giants were pleased to welcome him to the club.

“Xavier was a target for us because of his combination of speed and endurance as a midfielder but his leadership adds another element,” he told GWS. 

“He rocks up every week and has shown flexibility in playing forward as well as in the midfield.”
