MIDSEASON DRAFT HOPEFULS

The AFL has announced a final list of eligible players who have nominated for tomorrow night’s NAB AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

More than 200 players from across Australia nominated for the draft, with more than 20 Rookie list spots currently available across all clubs.

The WRFL’s most promising prospect is Point Cook young gun Massimo D’Ambrosio.

The co-captain of the Western Jets, D’Ambrosio has impressed plenty of AFL clubs in 2022, having starred in the recent Colgate Young Guns series as well as stepping up and playing with Richmond in the VFL.

The 19-year-old dashing defender had an impressive junior career with Point Cook. He won four league Best and Fairest awards (2018 Under 15 Division 1 Best & Fairest, 2015 Under 12 Division 1 Best & Fairest, 2014 Under 11 Division 1 Best & Fairest, 2013 Under 11 Division 1 Best & Fairest) and won three premierships.

D’Ambrosio is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Jordan Boyd from Spotswood, who was selected by Carlton in last year’s Midseason Draft.

D’Ambrosio spoke with KA & J on the latest Players Take podcast. You can listen to the chat here.

Other WRFL players who have nominated for the draft include Jesse Glass-Mccasker from the Yarraville Seddon Eagles and Samuel Clifford from Hoppers Crossing.

Mutaz El Nour (Northern Bullants), Kallan Dawson (Williamstown) and Bior Malual (Werribee) also nominated for the draft. The trio have previously been linked to the WRFL, either as a Junior or Senior player.
