JUNIORS TO SHINE ON NATIONAL STAGE

A GROUP of talented WRFL youngsters have been picked to represent Vic Metro in the upcoming national championships.

Eddie Ford from the Yarraville Seddon Eagles, Cody Raak from Caroline Springs and former St Albans junior Lucas Failli have impressed the Vic Metro coaching panel and have been selected to compete in this month’s NAB AFL Under 16 Championships.

Ford was a part of the Eagles Under 15 Division 1 premiership team and was a co-winner of the league Best and Fairest award.

This year he has been playing in Yarraville Seddon’s Senior side. He has played five games and kicked 11 goals.

Raak has been playing in the Lakers’ Under 17 team and was last year involved with the WRFL’s Junior Interleague team.

Failli played for the Saints back in 2016, he has since been playing basketball.

Meanwhile, Isabella Grant and Isabelle Pritchard from Spotswood and Cleo Saxon-Jones and Mary Day from Wyndhamvale have been named in the Vic Metro AFLW Under-18 squad.

The talented duo, who are both involved with TAC Cup side, the Western Jets, have been picked in the squad of 32.

Their first match is against Vic Country on June 16 at GMHBA Stadium.
