The Western Region Football League (WRFL) is currently seeking volunteers to join our Media team for the 2020 Season.

The WRFL is the premier sporting competition in the western suburbs of Melbourne and is seeking volunteers to cover its Senior Men’s and Under 18 Boys competitions as a reporter.

The opportunity provides a fantastic introduction to journalism and media students wishing to gain experience in sports media.

It also caters for supporters and former players who have a passion for football who are wishing to continue their involvement at grass-roots level.

As a WRFL Volunteer Reporter, you will be required to produce a 300-word match report each week as well as adhere to strict deadlines. All reports will need to be submitted each Sunday at 7pm.

The successful applicants will be reporting on matches played across the weekend and will need to ensure they are available most weekends between April to September.

If you are interested in volunteering your time and gaining experience in Sports Media, please outline any relevant experience as well as a Resume to WRFL Media and Communications Manager Kristen Alebakis at

Applications for these positions close on February 28.
