GVFL SCORE INTERLEAGUE WIN OVER WRFL

The Western Region Football League has slipped to seventh in the WorkSafe AFL Victoria Community Championship rankings after suffering a loss to Goulburn Valley League at Avalon Airport Oval on Saturday.

After a close first quarter, Goulburn Valley managed to hit the scoreboard in the second term, kicking five goals to two, opening a 22-point lead at the main break.

It was a hotly contested game in the third quarter, with each side hitting the scoreboard once.

Nicholas Warnock kicked a goal for the visitors, while Braden Ferrari kicked a nice a goal for the WRFL.

The WRFL had their chances to bridge the gap in the final term, having had nine scoring shots to five, but unfortunately couldn’t score a major, eventually losing by 41-points.

WRFL’s best on ground medallist was Josh MacDonald from Altona.
