FALCONS FLY, KELLY LEADS WAY FOR PARKSIDE

By CONNOR PAIN

Wyndhamvale recorded the biggest win of the round, defeating Albion 21.12. (138) to 8.6. (54) in Prestige Group Real Estate Division 2.

Bouncing back from a loss in Round 1, the Falcons started on the best possible note with a seven goal to one opening term, recording 11 scoring shots to one.

Three goals in both the second and third quarters extended the home side’s big lead as the Cats added four goals after half time.

The Falcons finished strongly with an eight-goal final term on the way to an 84-point win. They had 12 different goal kickers, with Jack Tessari and Daniel Smith each bagging three goals.

Wyndhamvale will face Point Cook Centrals in Round 3 while Albion will look for its first win in 2021 when they do battle against Newport.

Brent Kelly’s four majors led the way for Parkside as they downed Point Cook Centrals 10.18. (78) to 5.5. (35).

Wayward kicking from the Magpies kept the game within touching distance for Centrals, but the visitors were far too strong in the 33-point win that sees them on top of the ladder after Round 2, ahead of a clash with West Footscray where they’ll aim to make it three from three.

An eight goal to two first half was all Newport needed to cruise to a comfortable 15.12. (102) to 5.12. (42) win against North Footscray.

The Devils won the third quarter, but wayward kicking saw the game too far out of reach as they went down by 60-points.

Jack Papachatzakis kicked four goals in the win, while Sam Kater kicked three goals for the Devils.

Joel Radovanovic’s five goals was a competition high in Round 2 as Glen Orden’s strong second half saw the Hawks run out 14.16. (100) to 6.19. (55) victors.
