CONFERENCE SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED

The WRFL in conjunction with AFL Victoria and the EDFL are hosting a FREE Club Volunteer Conference for Club Volunteers in the WRFL to learn and improve their knowledge ahead of the 2018 season.

The list of guest speakers for the upcoming February 18 Conference have been announced.

AFL Victoria CEO Steven Reaper will give the opening address.

Dave Burt the CEO and Founder of SALT will talk about Club Community Health Wellbeing.

The practical and interactive session is aimed to help clubs be aware of the broader on and off-field responsibilities and how participants can support each other.

John Larkins, a Barrister and Aberfeldie Football Club President will speak about Club Governance. In his session John will discuss the importance of club structure and volunteer role development to governance in a local sporting environment.

AFL Integrity Operations Manager Kerry Gassner will talk about Managing Club Risk and Reputation.

TD Community Solutions senior consultant and former Geelong Football Club CEO Rob Threfall will hold two sessions, the first on sponsorship and marketing and the second on club planning.

AFL Victoria’s Strategy Government and Infrastructure Manager Shayne Ward will talk about Facility Management as well as give some hints on how to work with your local council.

Dwayne Wathen, a State Financial Controller with the AFL and an EFL Treasurer will talk about Club Financial Management. He will cover some of the critical areas all clubs should be actioning to ensure your clubs financial success.

Darryl Collings, AFL Victoria’s Club Sustainability and Affiliates Manager will talk about Allowable Player Payments and Player Points.

Our Community Group Training Manager Patrick Moriarty will also host two sessions, one on Grants Funding and Government Relationships and the second session is on Volunteer Recruitment and Management.

North Melbourne Football Club’s Diversity and Inclusion Manager, Western Jets Youth Girls Head Coach and Melbourne University Women’s Junior President Bridget Barker will also be in attendance.

Bridget will share the do’s and don’ts for female engagement in her Female Participation Session.

AFL Victoria Multicultural Participation Manager Andrew Ainger will speak on Engaging Multicultural Communities.

AFL Victoria Community Football Program Coordinator Meg McArthur will talk about Child Safety.

This session will include awareness of child abuse, why this is an important topic for football to work on and what your club needs to be putting in place to ensure all children that take part in football are kept safe.

Murray Ashby and Inspector with Victoria Police will talk about Conflict Resolution Strategies to deal with difficult people.

Finally, EDFL and WRFL Media Managers Adem Saricaoglu and Kristen Alebakis will talk about Media Strategies and the resources available to clubs.
