COBRAS END SUNS RUN

Albanvale ended the Wyndham Suns’ winning streak, with a come-from-behind victory at Robert Bruce Reserve on Saturday.

The Cobras were down by seven points at three quarter time, but kicked five goals to three in the final term to run over the top of the Suns in Alan Mance Motors Division 3.

Reece Duffield was pivotal for the home side, kicking three goals in a best on ground performance.

Daniel Backus and Darren Borg also played crucial roles in the win.

For the Suns, Dean Cachia was again the standout, kicking six goals. Blake Jago also played an important role.

The Suns are currently holding onto first place on the ladder by the slimmest of margins. Albanvale is in second spot.

Sunshine Heights moved back into third after a 54-point win over North Sunshine at Dempster Park.

The scores were tied at half-time, but after a rev-up from Dragons coach Damien Farnfield, they came out firing in the second half, kicking 11 goals to three.

Ricky Howell kicked five goals in the win. Leo Eliepa also starred.

Tarneit was also far too strong from Laverton, winning 24.17. (161) to 5.4. (34).

Joshua Stone bagged seven goals, while Ty Priest also kicked six goals in the win. Michael Jubb was named best on ground.

This weekend, Laverton will go head-to-head with Albanvale, Sunshine Heights will do battle with Braybrook, who will be fresh from the bye and the Suns will host North Sunshine at Goddard Street Reserve.
