COACHES APPOINTED FOR 2024 JUNIOR INTERLEAGUE TEAMS

The Western Football Netball League is pleased to announce the eight coaches who will lead its 2024 SEDA College Junior Interleague teams later this year.

Five coaches will resume interleague roles from last year while three new coaches will link up with the representative program for the first time.

This year’s coaches are Darren Ryan (13A), Nigel Willingham (13B), Amie Bracken (13 Girls), Daniel Neville (14A), Michael Motta (14B), Kirk Heberle (15A), Michael Grech (15B) and Leanne Meyer (15 Girls).

The WFNL is also excited to announce it has added an Under 13 Girls team for 2024 and the foreseeable future.

The new side will participate in the annual representative carnival against teams from the Essendon District Football League and Riddell District Football Netball League.

Dom Lammardo, WFNL Junior Football Manager congratulated all eight coaches on their appointments.

“We’re pleased to have great coaches Darren, Daniel, Kirk, Leanne and Michael Grech return to coach our interleague teams in 2024,” he said.

“We’re also delighted to welcome new coaches Nigel, Amie and Michael Motta who all bring a high level of coaching expertise and great values to our interleague program.

“On top of that we are really excited to introduce a new Under 13 Girls elite pathway program in 2024 and next year we will look to complete the Junior Girls elite pathway with the introduction of an Under 14 Girls team.

“The addition of these teams not only reflects the continued growth of junior girls football in our league, but also our commitment to providing elite pathways for our junior girls.

“We hope having this pathway will help girls within our league to realise their dreams of playing AFLW, similar to former Sunshine Heights junior Kristie-Lee Weston-Turner, who the Western Bulldogs selected with the first pick last year.”
