BRAYBROOK CONTINUE GOOD FORM

Braybrook Hawkins scored an important win over Point Cook Blue in Round 6 action of the Victoria University WRFL Netball competition on Friday.

The win was their fourth of the season, putting them into fourth place on the Division 1 ladder, two games ahead of Point Cook Centrals Great White Sharks in fifth place.

An 11 to three goal second quarter was the difference, with midcourt players Georgia Vicendese and Jaimee Smith playing pivotal roles in the center third. The final score was 31-21.

Spotswood Gold also had a 10-goal victory over Point Cook Centrals Great White Sharks.

Taylah Kiely and Naomi Parker teamed well in the goal ring, while for the Sharks, Raina Kani-Williams tried hard.

Second-placed Braybrook Whitten continued their run of good form, with a 17-goal win over North Footscray She Devils 1.

Jenna Nicolle provided great run, in attack and was feeding the ball into the goalers with ease throughout the match.

In the final game of Division 1, ladder-leaders Point Cook Centrals Sharks defeated Manor Lakes Storm 1 67-19. Sarah Magowan shot 26 goals in the victory.

Point Cook Centrals Sharks will look to make it seven wins from as many games when they take on North Footscray this Friday.

Point Cook Red and Manor Lakes Storm 2 played out a 31-all draw in Division 2.

Despite the efforts of Caitlin Barbante and Jane Goodier after four quarters the two teams couldn’t be split.

Point Cook Centrals Hammerhead Sharks won their Round 6 match against North Footscray She Devils 2 by 10-goals.

Aimee James Braun shot 17 goals in the second half for the Sharks.

Spotswood Green also had a win over Wyndhamvale Falcons Green 36-23. Kelly Prentice was in fine form in the goal ring, shooting 26 goals, 10 of those goals came in the final quarter.

Braybrook Cowell came back from being four goals down at three-quarter time, to win by a goal against Albanvale in Division 3.

Braybrook shot 10 goals in the final quarter to overrun the Cobras in what was a thrilling finish.

Goal Shooter Bree Dean and Goal Attack Jessica Townsend made the most of their opportunities, particularly in the second half, not missing a goal.

In other games, Sunshine Kangaroos scored its fourth win of the season, defeating North Footscray She Devils 3 32-17, Point Cook Centrals Tiger Sharks won by 20-goals over Point Cook White and Braybrook John defeated Albion 42-14.

Glen Orden Westwood Hawks won bragging rights over Glen Orden First National Hawks, winning by two goals in Division 4.

Ladder-leaders Wyndhamvale Falcons Gold won it’s fourth game of the season, defeating Laverton Magpies White by eight goals. Defender Liani Fononga provided great pressure and rebounded with confidence for Wyndhamvale throughout the game.

In the final game of Round 6, Manor Lakes Lightning defeated Sunshine Heights 45-17.
