BIG SECOND HALF FOR WERRIBEE DISTRICTS

Werribee Districts secured their fourth win of the season with an upset win against St Albans in the Under 18 Division 2 competition.

The first term was closely fought between the two sides. Werribee Districts had three scoring shots to St Albans’ two to lead by one goal at the first change.

St Albans worked tirelessly in the second quarter to kick four goals to two, taking an eight-point lead heading into the main break.

The third quarter was dominated by Werribee Districts. St Albans only managed to take one scoring shot, in comparison to eight from Werribee Districts, in which they wrestled back the lead.

Werribee Districts continued their second half rampage by kicking three goals to one major from St Albans clinching an important 16-point win. Mitchell Cini kicked three goals and Matthew Spinks was best on ground for Werribee Districts.

In other results, Point Cook hosted Newport at Saltwater Reserve. The Bulldogs triumphed by 31-points, with William Rennie best on ground for the Bulldogs.

The final game of Round 10 was between Tarneit and Hoppers Crossing at Wootten Road Reserve. The Titans kept the Warriors goalless in the first half, opening up a 41-point lead thanks to the work of Kauriki Herewini and Paul Ripari.

It was more of the same in the second half, with Tarneit running out 10.13. (73) to 3.2. (20).

In Round 11, Hoppers Crossing will play Flemington Juniors at Hogans Road Reserve, Newport hosts Tarneit at Langshaw Reserve and Werribee Districts will clash against Point Cook at Keogh Homes Oval. St Albans have a bye.
