ALBION SECURE THE WIN OVER NEWPORT

Albion have held on for a 10.13. (73) to 10.11. (71) win over Newport, in an exciting Division 2 – Round 3 clash. The two teams remained consistently close in scores throughout the game, with the biggest margin seen at half time 7.7(49) to 5.6(36) to Albion.

The teams were all tied up with 7.8(50) each going into the fourth quarter, but Albion managed to pull off a spectacular win, securing those two extra behinds in the final minutes of the game.

Nathan Dowdy and Caleb McPherson were each named best on ground for their respective clubs.

 

Sunshine have also secured themselves an astounding 18.21(129) to 6.4(40) win against Braybrook in a powerful round 3 match.

Sunshine acquired the lead early, setting themselves up with a 48-point lead going into the second half. This proved to be an unshakeable margin for Braybrook despite them scoring three of their six goals in the final quarter.

Mathew Medcraft had a stellar performance for Sunshine, scoring six of his teams eighteen goals and securing himself the best on ground title for his side.

 

Parkside were also triumphant in their Round 3 match up against North Footscray, dealing them an 11.17(83) to 4.5(29) loss over the weekend.

The game was still anyone’s to win at half time, with North Footscray trailing by just 15 points. However, Parkside remained consistent with their lead, only allowing North Footscray to score two behinds in the third quarter.

Shaun Ujcich was named best on ground for North Footscray after scoring two of their four goals and a behind for his team.
