23RD PLAYERS NAMED

For the second time this season, all Senior Men’s teams will have the capacity to select and play a 23rd player this weekend.

The 23rd player rule was introduced at the beginning of 2020, however after the season was cancelled due to COVID-19, clubs couldn’t implement the new rule, until now.

The 23rd player rule will see players who turn 19 (in 2021) or younger, who are yet to play three or more senior (first 18) career games, feature as the 23rd player on their respective clubs senior team this weekend.

Thirteen players across TIV Division 1, Prestige Group Real Estate Division 2 and Alan Mance Motors Division 3 have been picked as the 23rd player:

Division  Club 23rd Player
1 Altona Kyle Crooks
1 Caroline Springs Alipate Bryant
1 Deer Park Lucas Nikoloski
1 Hoppers Crossing Jayden Danaher
1 Point Cook Sam Cilmi
1 St Albans Jayden Kretiuk
1 Werribee Districts Michael Casale
1 Yarraville Seddon Leo Attersall
2 Albion Jordan Formosa-Hyett
2 North Footscray Ethan Mullenger
2 Wyndhamvale Daniel Burns
3 Braybrook Matthew Hayes
3 Wyndham Suns Matthew Tomelty

Nikoloski, Danaher, Cilmi, Attersall, Formosa-Hyett, Hayes and Tomelty will all be making their senior debuts.

There will be just one more opportunity on August 7 for clubs to utilise this opportunity.
