VU GUARANTEED
VU early-entry program means less stress, more success for school students
As Victoria’s Year 12s prepare for final exams and a stressful wait for ATAR scores, about 200 relieved students already know they have a guaranteed place at Victoria University for 2020.
VU Guaranteed offers guaranteed entry for Year 11 and 12 students from partnership schools to Victoria University or Victoria University Polytechnic, prior to their final Year 12 exams. Students receive an offer within a week of application, 5 bonus ATAR points (for courses with an ATAR requirement), tailored advice and – most importantly – peace of mind.
The program was launched in 2018 to schools mainly in Melbourne’s west, but this year it has expanded to 114 schools across the state.
Selection is based on students’ unique skills and contribution to the community rather than exam results alone; however it does not compromise standards since students must meet admission requirements. Those who don’t, receive help to map out their study goals. That could mean an alternative course or a pathway via VU Polytechnic (TAFE).
“VU Guaranteed relieves much of the stress and anxiety that comes with applying for a course and makes the process less intimidating,” says Arianna Ioannou, Bachelor of Community Development student. “Knowing that I had a guaranteed place in my dream course was incredibly comforting and reassuring.”
