COBRAS END HAWKS WINNING STREAK

Glen Orden’s undefeated run ended at the weekend, with Albanvale spoiling the party, defeating the Hawks by 50-points at Heathdale Oval.

By the end of the first half, the Cobras held a 46-point lead, with Hawks scoring just two goals for the first half, proving what a great defensive performance it was for the visitors.

The 12.13. (85) to 5.5. (35) victory was Albanvale’s first over Glen Orden since Round 15, 2005.

Players Graeme Catterall starred for the Cobras, while Justin Brook held the best on ground performance.

At Ainsworth Reserve, Sunshine Heights jump the ladder from fifth to fourth after an incredible 143-point win against North Sunshine.

Sunshine Heights scored 12 goals in the second quarter, comfortably claiming victory with a 97-point lead at half time.

Determined to redeem themselves after two straight losses, the Titans proved too strong for Laverton claiming an 81-point win at Laverton Park.

The Titans worked harder in the second half, having scored 10 goals to two, to run out 16.16. (112) to 4.7. (31) winners.

Players John Zangari and Matthew Dettman were among the best for the Titans. Zangari kicking six goals.

Mario Lawry and Hayden Dukzek starred for Laverton.

Elsewhere, Braybrook scored their fourth straight win, defeating the Wyndham Suns 20.17. (137) to 10.3. (63).

With an outstanding performance from Paul Cutajar-Milosev and Bradley Busutill scoring a combined 11 goals for the Brookers.

The Brookers will travel to Robert Bruce Reserve to take on Albanvale in Round 10.

Paul Tomelty starred for the Suns kicking six of their 10 goals. Mitchell Jerkovic was also among the best on ground.
